Fred Deakin to launch exclusive pop up exhibition and record shop on National Album Day

On Saturday October 12th to mark National Album Day and the release of his new sci-fi concept album The Lasters (“A scary joy!" - Lauren Laverne) Lemon Jelly’s Fred Deakin will be creating an immersive gallery experience as a one day pop-up space opposite Rough Trade East just off Brick Lane. The six “stained-glass-window” light boxes that are the basis of the album’s artwork will be on display, alongside augmented reality visuals and immersive projections that will tell the album’s story in animation.

The Lasters is a 19 song album that demands to be listened to from start to finish as it leads listeners through the tale of Earth’s last remaining inhabitants as they search for a new home. Weaving together a number of contemporary themes including climate change, dependence on technology and coming-of-age, while still containing the inventive, broad and unfailingly catchy song writing that Lemon Jelly fans will be familiar with.

As well displaying the exhibits, Fred will be selling limited edition vinyl and USB versions of The Lasters alongside posters, prints, badges and other highly collectable artefacts from his Lemon Jelly and Airside days. He will also be DJing and giving away a bunch of cool stuff, and there will be free tea and biscuits.

Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th October at Unit 12 Dray Walk, Old Truman Brewery, London, E1 6QL 11am – 6pm
