The Lovely Eggs
"Listening to an album is like going on a journey. And you have to surrender to that journey, let go and let yourself be carried away. Listening to an album is about seeing the bigger picture and appreciating something that is the sum of its parts. It’s not about picking out individual “pop hits” or playing your favourite tracks on repeat. It’s about giving time to the whole.
In a way, listening to a great album is a lot like reading a really good book. Each song is its own chapter. And just as you wouldn’t appreciate reading a book if you only read one chapter, it’s the same with an album. You have to take in all the tracks in order and listen to it as a whole to really appreciate what it is that makes an album special.
It’s also a bit like eating a sandwich. The enjoyment comes from consuming all the component parts at the same time and feeling the satisfaction."
